What is it about cats?  All our kids are bonkers about them, Zannah thinks she is one and I spent half a supervision session today with my mentor talking about her terminally ill cat and whether it should come home for a few days for them to say goodbye before the lethal injection.  Milo, our Siamese cross cat – I could just as truthfully have written cross Siamese cat – rules our household.   One of his preferred daytime sleeping places is my office chair so he and I compete all day for occupation of its comfy padded seat until I turf him off under protest and he slinks down to cover one of the conservatory chairs in his ever-shedding pale fur.  Around 4.30 pm you can hear him coming up the stairs to the office with a louder yowl on each step and just know that he is going to continue to yowl louder and louder, jump on the keyboard and generally make a nuisance of himself until he is fed.  If we dare to go out in the evening, he waits on the window sill next to the door ready to assault us with his neediness for affection and doesn’t give in till he gets a proper cuddle, so matter how late it is or tired we are.  We have recently taken to shutting him downstairs at night because of his need for company at 5.30am!  Do we love him?  Of course we do, and doesn’t he milk it!
